Summary/Abstract: This presentation aims to show – on the grounds of the volume of year 1789 of the Hungarian newspaper published in Vienna under the title Magyar Kurír – the interpretation of the political and social consequences of the Turkish war lead by Emperor Joseph II in alliance with Tsar Catherine II against the Ottoman Empire which started in 1787 in order to win back the Serbian and Wallachian territories lost due to the Peace Treaty of Belgrade signed in 1739, and continued mainly in the South and ended by the capture of Belgrade and Szendrõ in 1789.
