Summary/Abstract: The narrative about the flood expresses the truth about the God’s profound interest about the fate of people and His activity in the history of human beings. The didactic expression of this narration is essential. The terrifying verdict of God is testimony to how sin is a great evil. The flood as a punishment from God is a warning not to sin. The flood did not wash away neither the reasons for sin, nor its consequences. But God’s blessing accompanies man both before and after the flood. The task of the biblical narrative is to show God’s justice and holiness and at the same time: teaching that God is the One who rules and guides the world maintaining it in existence.
