Summary/Abstract: According to principles established in the Act of Forests in Poland, the Promotional Forest Complexes (PFCs) are forest areas of special economic, ecological, social and educational significance. Their designation is one of many practical aspects related to implementation of sustainable development rules into forest management. Social dimension of PFCs performance is difficult to determine and study. It is generally assumed that such dimension concerns all activities aimed at improvement of local communities’ life (including health, living conditions, access to food, job creation, etc.), enhancement of access to information about the environment, social participation and ecological education. The aim of the paper is to analise PFCs activities related to social development at local scale, based on results of research conducted in PFCs in 2015.
