After Christianization, north-eastern part of Bulgaria gradually got separated and became an asylum for advocates of the traditional way of life. Burials of the Balkan-Danube culture associated with Bulgarians are not numerous, but they are diverse and follow pagan rites: cremation from Ismail, a burial from Sadovo and a cemetery at Slobozia.
