Summary/Abstract: The paper studies pottery stamps on Pastyrskoe, Kantserka and Volyntsevo ware types of the 7th—9th centuries AD. They are not numerous and therefore have not been investigated. The research marked out eight types of the imprints — cross, cross in a circle, square, diamond, sun, doubledent, star, concentric circles, which then are subdivided into variants. We analyze these types and variants among three pottery traditions. The main problem is related to these stamps' origin. The author suggests their Alanic origin, and specifically it may well go back to the tradition of drawing tamgi on the wares. Also, he considers directions of distribution of ware stamps in Eastern Europe.
