Summary/Abstract: The paper presents the most important feminine characters in Lawrence Durrell’s “The Alexandria Quartet”. These characters illustrate various hypostases of femininity, such as the femme fatale, the woman as man’s subordinate and “servant”, the mentor or the woman that is man’s soul mate. In addition to that, we shall also examine the main character of the novel, the city of Alexandria.
