Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to present the increasing role of negotiation and mediation skills in the model of managerial competence resulting from the dynamic nature of globalization processes that generate cultural differences and a growing demand for ethical values in times of economic and political uncertainty. The ability to negotiate and mediate is today one of the most important competences for leaders and team members who are supposed to accomplish the task of organizing the knowledge-based economy. The issues discussed are examined through an analysis of pertinent literature, secondary research cited in sources, and on the basis of observation made while taking part in negotiations and mediation conducted in selected organizations.
