Ethical perspective on information broker services in knowledge-based economy

Summary/Abstract: Implied by the ICT revolution, the transformation of the modern economy paradigm towards the knowledge-based economy has led to the creation and expansion of new products and services. Simultaneously, the socio-economical shift interdependent on information processing and knowledge diffusion results in ethical dilemmas. Ethical issues corresponding to the knowledgebased economy are discussed, together with information ethics, from both the macro and micro perspectives. Information brokers services as professional information services are described and exemplified, and their determinants from the ethical perspective are analyzed.
