Summary/Abstract: The article is one of the series of author’s publications dedicated to sacral space inUkrainian song folklore. An analysis of names of religious holidays used in Ukrainianpopular poetic creative works was carried out in the present paper. Despite the fact thatthe names are Christian onyms and a part of them is Biblical names, both semantically andstructurally, another part is the names that reveal in their Christianized sound form pagan images, preserving their Pre-Christian symbolism and functional characteristics, and accordingto their semantic meaning, connotations quite often correlate with ancient cultural senses. The composition and inner form of folklore heortonyms (names of holidays) reveal thepeculiarities of Ukrainian Christianity, which is the evidence of dualism characteristic ofpopular faith for over centuries. It is evident that Pre-Christian cultural tradition dominates:symbiosis of two religious paradigms in popular song onymy occured with the prevalenceof pagan traditions.
