Summary/Abstract: The article presents the attempt of study on a broadly speaking figure of homo consumens presented in the following context: new studies on materiality, methodological basis of everyday life anthropology and object anthropology, the function of reism discourse on the studies of consumption culture imaginar-ium, psycho-sociological concept of consumerism semiology. The conducted analyses deal with four mutually complemented fields. They concern: the posi-tion of a human being in the world of fluidity of things and meaning changea-bility, postmodernist issue of corporeality included in the consumption gears, the role of postmodernist community rites building the meaning of consump-tion culture and the function of contemporary models of objectification, com-moditization, networking and technologization of consumption society
