Summary/Abstract: The article deals with the problem of multilingualism in Europe, its history and present-day developments. Our ideas are provoked by Palmira Legurska and Ilya Zlatanov’s interesting article entitled “From the trilingual dogma to linguistic pluralism” published in the journal Bȃlgarska reč, 2016/1.
