Summary/Abstract: The subject of this paper is the figure of the Devil in Serbian Medieval Apocrypha and his functions within the plot of the Apocrypha. Leaning on the traditions of the Old and New Testament we have endeavored to interpret which of the functions has the Devil of the Apocrypha inherited from Biblical, and which from folk traditions and beliefs. Depending on how frequent is the appearance of the Devil in the Apocrypha, we have listed some of his basic functions and tried to understand their origin and his role.
