Scientific and Didactic activity of Father Michal Sopocko

Summary/Abstract: The article presents the scientific and didactic activity of the Reverend Michał Sopoćko (1888-1975), the lecturer in the Theological Department USB in Vilnius and in the Theological Seminary in Vilnius and in Białystok. Rev. Michał Sopoćko obtained specialization in pastoral theology and pedagogy. He qualified himself as assistant professor defending the work: ‘Aim, subject and object of spiritual education according to Mikołaj Łęczycki.’ The Reverend gave lectures in homiletics, catechesis, pedagogy. His scientific activity embraced mainly the field of pastoral theology and pedagogy, resulting in the number of works published as the particular books and in the form of articles. He wrote about teaching to behave in a Christian like manner, about the priesthood of a family, catechization, preaching. The subject of the Mercy of God was the meaningful sphere of his research. Apart from that he published the number of works concerning the priests’ formation, the problems connected with alcohol overuse and other moral and social problems.
