Summary/Abstract: The paper analyzes the situation in Kosovo in the first three months of 1968. The position of the officials of the League of Communists of Yugoslavia from Kosovo who were of Albanian descent suddenly became complicated. They came into conflict with the Serbian Party leadership for the first time since the Brioni Plenum of 1966. Simultaneously the pressure of the Albanian radical nationalists increased more and more. The disagreements related to the future governmental and legal status of Kosovo, scope and penalization of crimes committed by the representatives of the state security police in the Autonomous Province prior to 1966 as well as the revision of the so called Prizren trial. The Kosovo leadership in such a situation resorted to tactic maneuvering and at the same time endeavored not to excessively weaken its position before the final phase of talks on the constitutional amendments.
