Summary/Abstract: The author compares the migration processes of the rural population in Transylvania, Wallachia and Moldavia in the context of Early Modern servitude in East Central and Eastern Europe. While a relatively high fluctuation an migration of peasants was characteristic for the whole 17th century, the circumstances were different. In Transylvania, it was mainly labour services for the landlord that caused flight, in Wallachia and Moldavia more important were taxes that had to be paid.
