"Contemporary" Christian anthropology

Summary/Abstract: The author poses the question of the meaning and importance of Christian anthropology to a human being. He points at significant changes that have occurred in the understanding of who a human being is, especially around the interpretation of human nature. This nature is seen through the prism of human weaknesses, which become an excuse for human activities. Sin is understood in moral terms, whereas, in fact, it is a spiritual and metaphysical phenomenon that transforms the inner self, also influencing a man’s external form. Therefore, the main task of anthropology today should be action aimed at reassuring the human soul. Another issue analyzed in the article is the idea of human freedom. The natural liberty of the human being is the result of a natural inclination towards the good. It should be remembered that a free man does what he does, without any compulsion, with a view of his final destination, which is a measure of human dignity. The task of modern anthropology is to determine what the essence of anthropology is, and when anthropology becomes anti-anthropology. The world can go back to its original harmony only by rebuilding the man’s true humanity, which lies within the correct interpretation of the above-mentioned problems.
