Summary/Abstract: The article traces out in detail the activities of Cyprian after his ascension to the Moscow metropolitan throne, as a cleric and literary man for over three decades (1375–1406). The conclusion is made that Cyprian's remarkable political, cultural and spiritual contribution to the revival and the strengthening of Muscovy has not been sufficiently elucidated. His contribution and role in the spiritual and cultural upsurge of Moscow and the political consolidation of Muscovy is stressed upon. The high cultural and spiritual achievements of the period are connected with the engrafting of the literature and culture of Tarnovo from the lands of the Second Bulgarian Kingdom into the territory of Muscovy. An in depth analysis is made and credit is given to the work of Metropolitan Cyprian and special attention is paid to the Life from the cycle dedicated to his predecessor Metropolitan Peter.
