Summary/Abstract: The life and work of Feliks Nowowiejski, the leading religious music composer of the first half of the twentieth century in Poland, is inextricably linked to the Catholic Church. The religious atmosphere of the family home, the study of church institutions, the work of the organist, extensive contacts in the clergy, including the highest ecclesiastical hierarchies, are important determinants of the composer’s artistic activity. In the Second Republic of Poland Nowowiejski was constantly present in the life of the Church and the Polish Nation, for whom God and Homeland were united. The great composers‘output, which grew out of religious traditions, brought him numerous awards and distinctions.
