Summary/Abstract: The paper's aim is to draw attention to the meaning of artefacts as cultural products of protest, based on the research of modern social movements. In this case the example of a hanger and an umbrella, as the main artefacts of the Polish Black Protests of 2016, was used. Along with the media coverage of social protests, artefacts have become significant actors in mobilisation actions by assuming the form of material, visual, discursive or technological objects. In the new situations of protest, they take on various functions and meanings - they are susceptible to transformations, but also interact with and affect the protest activities in public space.
