Summary/Abstract: The article is to present the opinion of Adam Jerzy Czartoryski about Napoleon and the Duchy of Warsaw. Timeframe of the article is limited by the years of the formation of the Duchy of Warsaw and beginning of the war in 1812. The article's attention is focused on the editing of the Prince Adam's source diaries prepared by Jerzy Skowronek and memoriał „Organisation du Duche de Warsovie". Czartoryski in the era of the Duchy of Warsaw was on the political sidelines. At that time, however, he watched how the small country of great hope was functioning. He analyzed the selection of persons entrusted with important positions. He appreciated the constitution and civil law introduced with it. Czartoryski attempted to assess the Emperor of the French as well. Opinions from the period in question were not burdened with the requirements of the and-Napoleon propaganda. As a result, evaluation of the Emperor of the French was filled with a lot of positives.
