Summary/Abstract: Amateurism in Žepče and the surrounding area has had an immeasurable role and importance in the preservation and cultivation of the cultural heritage of the people in this region. In addition to traditional songs, music, dance and handicrafts people from this area have, over time, developed other types of cultural activities expressed mainly through amateur cultural societies. Therefore, amateurism as a social category has taken an increasing importance, both in rural and urban areas of the region. In rural areas amateurism has maintained its original traditional form, while in the urban environment, it has taken on a whole new set of elements due to external cultural influence.
