Summary/Abstract: Miroslav Špiler (1906–1982) a composer and a music pedagogue, is a personality which has not been mentioned frequently in the writings of the recent period in the musicology of Bosnia and Herzegovina. However, the research of his legacy offered many interesting and unknown data, and thus enabled presenting his role and significance in the music culture of Sarajevo and Bosnia and Herzegovina. The paper aims to shed light on and offer a closer look at Špiler’s activities and his enormous contribution to B&H culture after the Second World War through his work as a pedagogue, composer and socially active artist. Other than using the bibliographical units, it was done using the rich archive data from the legacy of Miroslav Špiler which is situated in the Music Academy of Sarajevo, as well as other archive materials which were very useful.
