Summary/Abstract: The aim of this paper is to outline the development of the “just war theory” in the Christian tradition, especially in Catholic philosophical and theological thought. Special emphasis will be on the classic authors, like Augustine and Thomas Aquinas, who outlined basic coordinates of the “just war theory”. This article is also exploring “just war theory” in the context of the most relevant documents of the Magisterium of the Catholic Church (Catechism of the Catholic Church, documents of the Second Vatican Council and various documents related to Catholic social teaching).
