Summary/Abstract: The author discusses the notion of image (wizerunek) in linguistics in its relation to the notions of linguistic worldview (językowy obraz świata) and stereotype and its place in glottodidactics. She describes the image of Łódź in the Chicago Polish language daily Dziennik Związkowy, explaining its function and consequences for the teachers of Polish in the USA.
