Summary/Abstract: The article is devoted to comparative phraseology. The author compares Polish and Slovene phraseological units which include the words byk – bik, wół – vol, krowa – krava, cielę – tele. She analyses their usage and metaphorical meaning in both languages. The result of the analysis is a list of characteristics humans attribute to livestock.
