Summary/Abstract: Based on archive documents and on oral testimonies, the research study analyzes the historic phenomenon of the Jewish immigration to the Maramures county, in North Transylvania. As the historical documents reveal, the Jews came from Poland, Galicia and Russia following the anti-Semite persecutions in this part of Europe. The oral testimonies speak about the cultural and professional skills of the Jewish population and give valuable information about the settlement of the Jews in the Romanian villages of Maramures.
