Summary/Abstract: The research brings to the attention journals of general interest that were issued in Romania between 1855-1900. They comprise political, scientific, cultural and economic topics. The variety of subjects that the newspapers covered stands as evidence that the Jewish population in Romania was interested in finding out new information coming from a variety of fields. The following paper is concerned with the notion of identitary construct in Amos Oz’s A Tale of Love and Darkness and tries to discuss the main problems in framing the book either in the category of the novel or in that of the autobiography. Starting from these aspects, the present study analyzes the relationship between the fictional and personal/historical aspects that revolves around the issue of identity and wishes to demonstrate the presence of an ethical dimension of literature – literature as a means of accessing a tragic event from the past that altered the identitary construct.
