Summary/Abstract: We try to identify the prototypic use of the connectors for the language ofmathematics. With this intention, the comparison with the common language plays adecisive part. We try to identify the condition of uses and the effects of employment, fromthe descriptive, interpretative and explanatory point of view. Which are the constraints theconnector imposes on the cotext and which is its contribution, namely its semanticcontribution in the text? We leave the assumption that there is a reciprocal exchange of“information” between the connector and its linguistic environment. Our study is a textuallinguistics one where the textual relations are explained by a dialectical connectionbetween semantics (logic) and linguistics. The textual linguistics, applied to the field ofmathematics, is based on a model of grammar having the following moments: diagram ofthought, semantic system, metalanguage. Our analysis is centred on connectors, withoutneglecting their complex relationships to the co-text and the context. To highlight thesecomplex relations, J. Drăghicescu distinguishes the articulators of sentence and the logicalarticulators of discourse
