Summary/Abstract: The subject of the article is the edition of five unknown letters (1563–1564) from Polish king Sigismund II Augustus to the royal governor of Cracow Maciej Błeszyński with the lengthy commentary. The royal governor managed the properties which belonged to the king on the area of Małopolska (Lesser Poland) and Wawel – Polish kings’ residence in Cracow. He also took orders from the king which were not connected with economic administration. Edited letters were written in the period after loosing Połock (Polotsk) fortress (1563) and concern first and foremost works on extension of the artillery (casting of cannons, bellfounders’ employment, purchase of gunpowder and raw materials) for Livonian War requirements.
