Summary/Abstract: The article presents liturgy as the place of actualization of domestic Church. A family is defined by the Church Magisterium as “domestic Church”; by nature it is connected with the Church. The Church actualizes herself in liturgy, hence a family as its subject should have such experience. The domestic Church becomes the subject of liturgical celebration in three cases: when it takes place in the family, when the family participates in a liturgical celebration in a larger community, and when the family community prepares for liturgy. This article presents that a family originates through the sacrament of matrimony, it gives birth to new members of the Church, whose Christian initiation is accomplished also through sacraments. The second part of the article describes that actualization of the family as the domestic Church occurs during the celebration of a Holy Mass, liturgy of the hours and blessings at home, but also when the family celebrates the day of the Lord through their participation in Eucharist celebrations in a parish. Domestic liturgy covers also devotions and customs associated with liturgy. The last part of the article concerns the role of the family in liturgical life of the Church. This awareness is deepened, for example, by the formation program within the Domestic Church movement which is a form of post-baptismal catechumenate for a family.
