Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to capture the typical ways in which texts are linked with situations during the debates in the media. The elements of a situation which are coded in the text constitute a context. Uniqueness of connections between these elements can be noticed not only in the current communicative situation, which is created by the journalists and their studio guests, but also by showing elements of situational background from the past. We are assuming that the most general way of arranging components of a situation is co-related to the typical and discursive form of a statement. Research shows that selecting elements of the outside language background is typical for debates, along with putting them in a relational network, problematizing the topic, and confronting different contexts.
