Summary/Abstract: Updating of the Belarusian tradition in the world literature context requires researcher’s competence in the field of national and cultural identification of literary phenomena. The acquisition of this competence is a complicated task considering the fact that the development of Belarusian culture has had heterogeneous character for a long time. The decisive criterion for the identification of national, heterogeneous and nation specific artistic phenomena is the existence of the nation-state idea that inspires and defines the creator.
