The competences needed by students in the period of double transition: into labour market and adulthood

Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to analyse competences needed by students to cope with the requirements of labour market and with the developmental challenges relevant to the process of entering adulthood. The latter ones are described on the ground of Arnett’s concept of emerging adulthood. The three crucial groups of competences required by employers from graduates are described: personal, interpersonal and occupational. Next, personal and self-creation competences useful for meeting challenges of entering adulthood are indicated. In the final part, the possibilities to shape these competences in formal, nonformal and informal education are described.
