Summary/Abstract: The Momentum Movement has recently emerged onto the political scene from the ranks of Hungarian youth, who otherwise have been little involved in political activity since the regime change in 1989. In our research we examined the political socialization paths of the core members of Momentum using an online survey and semi-structured personal interviews. Our results indicate that family has played a key role, while formal education – both secondary and tertiary – has had less infl uence because of its dysfunctionality than informal peer groups. Greater support to educational institutions can provide an opportunity to activate the political interest of the younger generation.
