Summary/Abstract: Observed from comparative aspect, the Albanian originating hydronymy in Pelagonia and Podgur has resisted challenges of time, although in a number of lexemes leavings is observable the influence of Slavic and Turkish, as well as of the other Oriental languages. Generally speaking, over 60% of the hydronym appellatives of Pelagonia and Podgur (Istog) existing to present times is of native Albanian origin. Therefore, careful research, registration, and study of hydronyms is of special role and relevance because it facilitates expansion of our knowledge in many other scientific fields and disciplines, so beyond linguistics, whereas observed from only linguistic plane micro-toponyms, namely the hydronyms, help us shed a light on various linguistic issues and problems, enabling to shed light on the linguistic and historical "ruins" of the peoples’ past, in our case of the Albanian people, especially in those cases when there are no scriptural or historical sources, or when they exist, but are silent. The onomastic traces created by Albanians over the time are of multiple importance not only for linguistics but also for other sciences, such as history, geography, ethnography, geodesy etc., so onomastics with all its components should be studied and put into service of Albanologists and Albanology.
