Summary/Abstract: Byzantine factor in Arber lands compared to the western and Balkan factors was powerless and was continuously retreating. Speaking about the final period of the direct Byzantine impact in Arber territories, we may notice that the city of Durres throughout its activity, did not feel any pressure coming from Byzantium. So, in the Central Arber territories, not only had set the times of Byzantine rule, but generally its influence had been faded. From this period thereafter, besides the western and Balkan factors, the Ottoman factor was aggressively appearing. It was the Ottoman penetration from east that significantly affected in minimizing it and then the evanescence of Byzantine factor in Arberia and in particular in the city of Durres. So, the Ottoman attempts to invade Durres, obliteration of Byzantium influence and aggravated situations Gjergj Topia was going through were used by the Republic of Venice to put the city of Durres under their ownership, as well as other Arbëria coastal cities.
