Summary/Abstract: Kelmend region, in comparison with other provinces, was distinguished for strong and powerful resistance to protecting their lands against ottoman invaders. Before the ottoman conquest, Kelmendi used to live Malësia e Madhe (Greater Highlands). A part of its tribe continues to live in this region. They resisted and fought ferociously against every suppressing politics that came from Ottoman Empire. In 1613, Ottoman Empire sent Asllan Pasha with seven Sanjak Beys of Prizren, Peja, Dukagjin, Kacanik, Elbasan, Zadrima and Shkodra eventually to conquer Kelmend Province. Even though Ottoman army destroyed everything in front of it, they could not suppress the resistance because Kelemendi reorganized after every punishing ottoman military expedition. In coming years, Sultn Murad IV, fearing an unexpected situation, in 1638 ordered Vuço Pasa the Beylerbey of Bosnia to gather an army from Hercegovina, Albania and Serbia to start military expedition as soon as possible in order to press the main center of the movement, namely Malësia e Madhe. However, even this time, as many times before, ottoman attempts failed. In 1686, war escalated.
