Summary/Abstract: In the summer of 1887, Gheorghe Ghibănescu took a trip through the historical Moldavia, accompanied by his friend Gheorghe Sion-Gherei. At that time, the future document editor was a teacher at the Normal School of Barlad. His travel impressions were published at the end of 1887 in ‘Românul’ newspaper. A first stopover was in Tecuci where Ghibanescu had a conversation with the old bookman Alexandru Papadopol-Callimachi. The first part of the text relates the impressions in the area of Neamţ where he reached on the Vallez of Oituz and then at the monastery of Tazlău. During these travels, the young Ghibănescu gathered materials for his collection of documents “Surete si izvoade”. This travel wasn’t a strictly scientific one, but offered the young researcher a contact with the history bearing geography. His travel narrations complete the spiritual profile characteristic to the famous document editor.
