ZONA MUZEUL TEHNIC „DIMITRIE LEONIDA” – UZINA ELECTRICĂ FILARET – DEPOUL ŞERBAN VODĂ, ÎN AŞTEPTAREA UNEI SOLUŢII
THE AREA OF “DIMITRIE LEONIDA” TECHNICAL MUSEUM – FILARET POWER STATION – SERBAN VODA DEPOT, WAITING FOR A SOLUTION

Summary/Abstract: Carol I Park was created in 1906 when the National Romanian General Exhibition was built in Bucharest, on the Filaret Plateau, being our first major national exhibition of international level. Among the works designed for this exhibition, several buildings are preserved nowadays in Carol Park: the Cuţitul de Argint Church, the Roman Arenas, the Ţepeș Tower, small pavilions and fountains. Carol I Park is located in an industrial area with ancient traditions, having a number of other important buildings of industrial-archaeological patrimony around: the Filaret Power Station, the Filaret Railway Station, the Wolf Factory, the Matches Factory etc. In 2003, the creation of a National Exhibition Complex of Science and Technology around the National Technical Museum "Prof. Eng. Dimitrie Leonida" was proposed; unfortunately the project wasn’t seen as a priority. Still, this remains a vivid solution for saving the Technical Museum. The present paper stands for the creation of a National Exhibition Complex of Science and Technology, around the National Technical Museum “Prof. Eng. Dimitrie Leonida” – by extending it in the buildings of the former Filaret Power Station and, possibly, the Șerban Vodă depot.
