Summary/Abstract: In this paper we examine the impact of inequality in distribution of income and land on economic development of developing countries. By analysis of the cross-section data we found a statistically significant negative relationship between higher initial inequality and economic development during the period 1990-2010 in our sample of 106 developing countries. Such a result we got for the model in which we used Gini coefficients for the distribution of income and land as indicators of inequality of income and wealth, and growth rates of Human Development Index (HDI) as an indicator of the development.
