Summary/Abstract: Treaty Organization on Collective Security (CSTO), known locally by its Russian name Organizatsiya Dogovora o Kollektivnoy Bezopasnosti (ODKB) is a regional security organization comprised of seven post-Soviet countries. The CSTO received observer status in the General Assembly of the UN in 2004 In 2009, an agreement on cooperation between the UN and the CSTO was signed. The CSTO members are Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Russia and Tajikistan. The area of the CSTO is divided into three areas of responsibility: Russia-Armenia, Belarus-Russia and Central Asia.
