The Establishment and the Evolution of Păcurari Neighbourhood

Summary/Abstract: The emergence and the evolution of Moldavian boroughs in the second half of the 18th century represented an element of modernism for the Romanian society of that time especially if we consider both social and economic aspects. In this context, special attention is given to the boroughs that appeared near the large cities. In most cases, they had an economic role, connecting the centre and the newly formed outskirts that afterwards developed socially and economically. Such a case is represented by the Păcurari borough, which appeared in the western periphery of Iași. For the most part, its history is found in original documents which make the mission of discovering it both beautiful and difficult.
