The role of management information in the effi cient management of hospitals

Summary/Abstract: Hospitals, like any other organizations, operate in a competitive business environment and their activities cannot take place in isolation from its laws. Focusing only on medical activities may bring about such institutions financial problems. Therefore hospitals managers must implement new solutions for cost optimization. The article focuses on the question of the possibility of creating a management information system for hospitals, as well as poses the question about the possibility of creating a unified system within the health service and its potential benefits both for individual units and the whole system.
