Infl uence of screening tests in the fi eld of breast cancer to improve the financial effi ciency of health care system in Poland

Summary/Abstract: Healthcare system expenditures associated with the treatment of cancer increase significantly every year. In the near future, cancer will become the leading cause of death among Poles. How to stop these trends? The answer should be screening tests whose task is to reduce the mortality rate as a result of the disease, its early detection and in consequence faster uptake of treatment, which can reduce the effort necessary to fight the disease. In order to obtain satisfactory results, it is important to achieve the participation rate level of over 70% among patients to whom the screening programme is dedicated.
