Summary/Abstract: Sulphur and its compounds significantly harms ecosystems, including also man. They cause irritation of respiratory tract. Sulphure dioxide often achieve high concentrations in a case of inversive situations. Main danger represent smog situations, which caused death of thousands people in London in 1950, for example. Main emission sources of SO2 comes from burning of fossil fuels. Emissions produced by transport reach low concentrations. The good news for Europe is, that level of sulphure dioxide (in the last decades) really dropped down. Slovak republic participates only around 1% on Europeans emissions of SO2 production.
