Summary/Abstract: The most important document demonstrating the position of Poland’s authorities on national security continues to be the 2007 National Security Strategy. Since then, numerous documents described as strategic and bearing on Poland’s security to a varied degree have been adopted and made public, the Long-Term Country Development Strategy being one such instance. The issue of setting out a hierarchy of the conceptual documents pertaining to defence has also emerged. The opinion which has attained the upper hand maintains that the primary threat to Poland is that of an unconventional and non-military nature. Membership of NATO and EU, as well as an alliance with the United States, are deemed to be the foundation of the country’s security. The Russian-Ukrainian confl ict has contributed to the necessity of re-defining the threats faced by Poland. It should be expected they will find a reflection in new conceptual documents.
