Summary/Abstract: Epigeic fauna is a diverse group that includes taxonomically and ecolo-gically diverse species. Their ontogenetic development takes place in the top layer of soil or in humus. Thus, they are dependent on the land either for a lifetime or at least in one phase. The research of epigeic fauna was carried out in the Veľká Fatra mts. in the Kalvária east of Ružomberok. The meadows were managed by mulching and mowing. The paper brings the results of changes in abundance and biomass due to different management.
