Summary/Abstract: This article is a version of the author's presentation on February 17, 1996, during the session devoted to the 30th anniversary of the Second Vatican Council (1962-1965), organized in the Łódz Seminar. Taking advantage of the great experience in Vatican diplomacy Bishop Bolonek wishes to show the importance of this constitution. The author also emphasizes the inspiring and normative role of this document in the dialogue with the contemporary world, especially in diplomacy. Well known to its author, this dialogue makes it possible to solve the difficult problems of our times. Thanks to his efforts to solve the important problems of humanity, Vatican authority has been respected and esteemed for many years. The Constitution Gaudium et spes therefore constitutes Magna Charta of the international prestige of the Vatican.
