Summary/Abstract: The Republic of Moldova which is situated between the geopolitical west and east is still searching for its identity and faces a variety of economic and demographic problems. It has been looking for a model, vision and the direction of its development and transformation. After twenty five years of its independence the Republic of Moldova does not have an effective political and legal system or even a coherent idea of statehood. In the perspective of a changing role of a state in the international order the task of finding its place in the system of multidimensional global and European order seems to be even more complicated.
