Summary/Abstract: The text will reflect on the concept of general education from the angle of its being subjected to general revision. Having established value polarization (to efficiently address the needs of the labour market) between knowledge of use value and knowledge of no use value (and, thus, not legitimate), general educational knowledge is moving away from functionally equal relevant competencies. As an ideological construct, it works as a total formula which, on the one hand, due to the futility and indeterminacy of its value, comprises all the desired pedagogic performances while, on the other, it turns out to be an alternative to the wide range of values and knowledge which exist in contemporary logic, thought to be of no use value, useless, and undesirable as such.
